  • An EU Large-Scale Project, EQUAL is a 30-month initiative aiming to reduce gender-based violence (GBV) in Uzbekistan - with a focus on the regions of Ferghana, Kashkadarya, and Namangan, where prevalence is highest.
The Athens Network of Collaborating Experts (ANCE), as the project lead, entrusted us with the full design and implementation of the communication and awareness-raising strategy.

The project seeks to strengthen prevention, shift public attitudes, and support communities in recognizing and addressing GBV through coordinated action, education, and strategic communication.

  • tasked with designing, developing, and implementing a complete multimedia awareness campaign against GBV in Uzbekistan.
    This included:

    • Creating legally compliant communication material suitable for Uzbekistan

    • Developing the project’s full visual identity

    • Designing all physical and digital assets

    • Producing a campaign for the 16 Days of Activism

    • Implementing a strategic communication plan to maximize impact

At the same time, we ran a parallel awareness campaign in Greece, where the leading NGO is based.

  • Work began with in-depth research into GBV: its root causes, cultural dynamics, social stigma, and regional variations within Uzbekistan.
These insights shaped educational content meant to spark real conversation - combining data, myth-busting facts, and actionable steps that challenge norms while respecting local culture.

We focused on one central message:
Silence enables violence. Awareness stops it.
Key Objective – The SPEAK Campaign

The SPEAK Awareness-Raising Campaign launched on November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, as part of the global 16 Days of Activism.
Its flagship asset was the animated short film SPEAK!, a powerful call to action highlighting the role of the bystander - the person who witnesses violence but stays silent.

    Key Activations – Driving Change

    Educational Materials
Brochures, posters, and an animated booklet distributed in schools, mahallas (neighborhoods), and public institutions.

    Collaborations
Partnerships with artists, influencers, and NGOs to expand reach across regions.

    Audiovisual Impact
The SPEAK! film and its variations reinforced messages of equality, responsibility, and bystander empowerment.

    Community Events
Workshops, storytelling sessions, screenings, and exhibitions encouraged discussion, empathy, and action.

Together, these initiatives helped build a community where individuals feel safe, informed, respected, and empowered.
