From a campaign to a communication system that works 24/7 , custom- designed for Municipality of Kifisia.
This initiative is not just another gender–based violence campaign.
It is a municipal communication system designed to reduce GBV by helping citizens understand, recognize, and act - anytime, anywhere.Through the work with the Community Center, three critical gaps were identified:
Information Gap: Citizens don’t know where to turn.
Recognition Gap: Victims and bystanders often fail to identify abuse.
Action Gap: Even when violence is recognized, people don’t know what steps to take.
To address a social issue as complex as GBV, the municipality needed a continuous, accessible, and unified communication system, not a momentary awareness effort.
-
Three barriers prevented effective action:
Information gap fragmented messages and unclear guidance.
Recognition gap - victims and witnesses struggle to understand what constitutes violence.
Action gap - no unified, simple, step-by-step support for victims or bystanders.
Behind these gaps sat deeper obstacles:
lack of consistent messaging,
low accessibility of information,
and a disconnect between expert knowledge and public understanding.
The challenge was to create a single, coherent, 24/7 communication system that speaks equally to victims and bystanders, across both physical and digital spaces
-
We create Greece’s first 24/7 GBV Communication System - a unified framework that informs, guides, and activates citizens across physical and digital touchpoints.
We developed a clear visual identity (=) as a bridge between victim and bystander, two complementary pocket guideswith step-by-step instructions, and a mobile-first microsite offering instant help, safe navigation, and direct access to support services.
A strong hashtag system (#ΜΗΠΩΣ_ΔΕΧΕΣΑΙ_ΒΙΑ; / #ΜΗΝ_ΜΕΝΕΙΣ_ΘΕΑΤΗΣ) and municipality-wide visibility created continuous awareness and community engagement.
The result: a scalable, always-on communication system that helps every citizen recognize violence, understand their options, and take action.
